IPL Brand Value Takes a Hit: Franchise Empire Faces Major Decline

The brand value of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been on a downward trend over the past two years, raising fresh concerns for the BCCI. Industry analysts attribute this decline to several key factors, including the merger of broadcasters Disney Star and Viacom18, as well as the ban on certain money-gaming apps.

As a result, IPL’s revenue streams have been impacted, leading to a significant drop in its brand valuation—from ₹92,500 crore to ₹76,100 crore. This decline underscores the challenges facing the IPL as it navigates a changing media and regulatory landscape.

Experts suggest that while the IPL remains one of the most popular cricket leagues in the world, maintaining its brand value will require strategic efforts to diversify revenue and strengthen fan engagement amidst evolving market conditions.
