Bihar Assembly election LIVE: Amit Shah made clear BJP will not let Nitish Kumar hold top post, claims INDIA bloc CM face Tejashwi Yadav

The INDIA bloc's chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav has claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah made it clear that the BJP will not let Nitish Kumar hold the top post of Chief Minister after the Bihar assembly polls. Tejashwi alleged that Amit Shah's recent statement indicated the BJP's intent to remove Nitish Kumar from power. Yadav said that while the NDA has not announced a CM candidate, Amit Shah's comment that the legislators will decide the CM post after elections is essentially a signal against Nitish Kumar continuing as CM. Yadav also pointed out that Nitish Kumar's health is not good and that some JD(U) leaders are aligned with the BJP aiming to finish off the party after the elections. Tejashwi vowed to oust the current "double-engine" government run by BJP and JD(U), accusing it of corruption and crime over the past 20 years.

Additionally, Tejashwi Yadav was officially announced as the chief ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance comprising RJD, Congress, and others) for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. This announcement came shortly before the first phase of polling. Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot confirmed Tejashwi as the CM candidate, calling him young and with a long future, likely to get public support. The BJP and NDA have so far dodged declaring any CM candidate.
